Creating
an Archive – ZIPs and RARs
|
|
|||
|
You
don’t have to ZIP/RAR up your file for sharing, but it is recommended because
you can include a preview image and your ReadMe in the archive with the
file…AND because compressing your files into a ZIP/RAR saves storage space on
your host website. Some
folks prefer to use a .ZIP application, such as WinZip. I personally prefer
the .RAR application WinRAR. WinRAR can archive your files as a .ZIP or a
.RAR, as well as other kinds of compressed archives. WinZIP can only deal
with .ZIP files. You
can download an evaluation copy of either application or both; however, if
you download and install WinRAR, there is no reason to get WinZIP since
WinRAR can handle .ZIP files just as easily.

2. Once you
have made your decision about which archiver you are going to use and made
sure it was installed, venture into your Sims3 Export folder located here: 3. Locate
your Custom Content package. That would be the file you made when you
successfully exported your file in the ‘Share’ step of this tutorial.
Your file will have the name you gave it. If you are having trouble finding
it, look for a folder labeled ‘Uploaded’. If you uploaded your file to
the Sims3 Exchange already, you will find your creation in the ‘Uploaded’
folder. (NOTE: If you have not uploaded any custom
content to the Sims3 Exchange, there will not be an ‘Uploaded’ folder
inside your ‘Exports’ folder.) Click on

5. Now that
you have all of your files in one place, click your mouse into the folder
where all your files are, hold down the left button and drag the mouse over
all three files. Click on
this Image to Enlarge it. Click on

6. When you
have all three files highlighted, Right Click your mouse. 7. Look for
the option that says ‘Add to Archive’. Choose that option. Click on

8. This
will open a new menu for the Archiver. a. Enter an
easy to Identify name in the Archive Name Field. b. Choose whether
you want a RAR or a ZIP. c. Click
‘OK’ Click on

will now begin compressing all of the files neatly into one fine archive.
When it is done, you have completed this tutorial and can now simply upload
your new archived Sims3 Custom Content to a FanPage.

METHOD 2 Part 3: Creating
an Archive – ZIPs and RARs - Done - If you know how, you can build your own Sims3 FanPage to share all of your Sims3 stuffs on. Here are some suggestions for sharing your custom content. a. Use your PreView image on your FanPage for fans to see what they will get in your download. b. Upload your Archive to either a free storage website or to your host for your FanPage and link to it on your FanPage so your fans can download it. c. Create a Folder in the Sims3Fanatics Community Yahoo Group, using your Sims3 Identity. d. Upload your archive to that folder for share. e.
